Reticulated polyurethane foam is a very porous, open-cell, low-density polyurethane foam. This foam type undergoes a thermal reticulation process that removes the window cell membranes. This post process strengthens and reinforces the foam walls and minimizes the possibility of open channels. The end result is a net-like structured foam that provides exceptional filtration properties and highly suitable for sealing applications because it prohibits air flow.

Specialty Foams
Atlas Foam Products carries a specialty Dri-Fast foam material that is highly suitable for outdoor use where the presence of water and moisture is frequent. This specialty reticulated polyurethane foam is anti-microbial and prevents moisture buildup, making it highly desirable material for patio and outdoor furniture. Its open-cell structure and porous nature allows a substantial amount of airflow and water to drain through. This also helps prevent water retention and inhibits the growth of mildew and mold.
Foam Density
PPI is an important characteristic that helps distinguish the different types of reticulated foam. The PPI value helps determine the types of application and how the foam is used. As the PPI value increases, the pores sizes or openings decrease in size. For example, reticulated foam with a lower PPI value is generally designed to enhance and promote greater air flow, because of the larger pore sizes. In contrast, reticulated foams with high PPI value are ideal for sound absorption and liquid filters.
